Introduction of discipline:
1.Profile
Public administration of Tianjin University has developed by virtue of discipline strength and running feature of management science and engineering, business administration, and the majors including educational economy, administrative management, and land resource management began to admit master program from 1993, 2002 and 2005. In 2000, Tianjin University became one of the first batch pilot units to cultivate MPA degree, and program of educational economy and management became the discipline points to authorize doctor degree of vocational and technical education, and also established the first-class discipline doctor program of public administration approved by Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council in January of 2006 and 2010 respectively.
Entrusted by NDRC, Ministry of Education, MOC, State Ethnic Affairs Commission, Xinjiang, Commission Department of Shanxi, Commission Department of Hebei, Commission Department of Heilongjiang, Tianjin Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, SASAC and other governmental organs, the discipline of public administration shoulders the responsibility to cultivate degree and non-degree education of public administration and delivers many professional talents to the state.
2.Conditions of academic team
Discipline of public administration in Tianjin University has now two institutes, namely Institute of Public Administration and Institute of Social Security and includes 5 professors, 15 associate professors, 2 lecturers, and 19 teachers with doctor degree. At the same time, the discipline is also responsible for “research center of public resource management” (important research foundation of humanities and social science in general institutions of higher education in Tianjin) and “research foundation of anti-corruption theory in Tianjin established by Tianjin Discipline Protection Commission, Tianjin Supervisory Bureau and Tianjin University and others, and establishes the practical tutors composed by governmental servant, senior experts of public administration and scholars.
3.Scientific research and achievement
In recent three years, the discipline has shouldered 73 portrait programs of scientific researches from National Social Science Foundation, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and Technology, Tianjin Science Commission, Tianjin Social Science Planning Office and others, and has shouldered 28 programs from governmental organs and enterprises; the scientific research expenditure amounts to more than RMB 3.3 million. It also has got outstanding awards of national and provincial social science achievements, and made 132 publications in core journals, and published 12 books and textbooks. During program research, obvious academic value has been got, so as to play an important role in solving social problems and promoting industrial development. For example, for Tianjin Pipe Corporation, it has made a case study of continuous innovation, which helped the corporation improve efficiency of technical innovation management, increased economic benefit of more than RMB 5 million, and got the 1st award of national enterprise management innovation. Other reports, for example, the policy consultation report On Promotion System and Suggestion of University Students was instructed by Xingguo Huang, Tianjin Mayor, Dongliang Yang, Executive Vice Mayor of Tianjin and Jindu Cui, Vice Mayor and transmitted to Tianjin Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau as the decision reference; On Establishment of Talent Free Harbor in Binhai New Area of Tianjin was instructed by Gaoli Zhang, originally Tianjin Mayor.
