Title: System Thinking via “begin with the end”-- A Case Study on Improving the Efficiency of Emergency Departments

Abstract:

This talk begins by demonstrating the advantages of learning about and solving problems via "system thinking -- begin with the end"

using many examples from daily life. Then a case study on improving the efficiency of emergency departments is presented,

clearly showing the insights of "system thinking." Many fundamental concepts, including those from probability, statistics,

and simulation logic, are reviewed via "system thinking" rather than through more traditional approaches.
